The Indian Appetizer
An appetizer is basically a food or drink served usually before a meal to stimulate the appetite. Indian cuisine has rich array of appetizer. Many of these are comparatively lower in fat than most western appetizers which are heavy on butter and cheese.
Many people confuse appetizers with hors d'oeuvres. Hors d'oeuvres describe finger food, while an appetizer can be a first course at the table.
There can be hot and cold appetizers. The cold ones can include stuffed celery, filled mushroom caps or ice crisp raw veggies. Cheese puffs, hot dips and spreads can be great hot appetizers, as can some of the following recipes. Enjoy! |
